Boruteczko
Hello. I'm not sure if this place is appropriate to post my question, so I apologize in advance. I've been told by a vendor that TWIN2X4096-8500C5D is discontinued and this is allegedly "brand new model": http://www.sabmegastore.com/composant-pc-bureau/memoire-ram/memoire-dimm-ddr2-corsair-dominator-dhx-kit-2-x-2-go-pc8500-1066-mhz-cl5-6244.html#mainMenu (they claim not to be able to replace faulty kit now). Thank you.
Wired
Couldn't find a part number on that page. They have been changing all of the part numbers to a new standard for a while now, but that doesn't exactly relate to if it's been discontinued or not. Either way Corsair's warranty is worldwide, so you can always RMA with them.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted November 30, 2010 Corsair Employee Share Posted November 30, 2010 I am sorry but DDR1066 memory is hard to get and has been discontinued.
Boruteczko
I am sorry but DDR1066 memory is hard to get and has been discontinued. So, someone is trying to deceive me? They propose me a gift token to buy something instead. I have been told that afore-named memory (available in the shop) is not a TWIN2X4096-8500C5D (and that's why they purportedly failed to fulfill RMA after four weeks with no response...) but the new line and differs from the prior one. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted December 1, 2010 Corsair Employee Share Posted December 1, 2010 I have no idea what you or they are talking about. All I can tell you is the part number TWIN2X4096-8500C5D is no longer in production and in fact we are not making any DDR2 memory above DDR800 at this time. Wired
Either way, just because they're not made anymore doesn't mean stores don't still have them. Regardless, if you have an issue with your memory you can always RMA them through Corsair and they'll go over your options if a direct replacement is not available. The shop staff didn't even told me that I can have my ram back. My only option is to buy something new with their gift tokens till the end of the year! Funny, I can buy Dominator PC8500 they have in the offer, because now I know it is old TWIN2X4096-8500C5D. But of course I can pay extra, as they count on... Oh, let it be.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted December 1, 2010 Corsair Employee Share Posted December 1, 2010 I cannot comment on that, but I would encourage you to take that up with them. It sounds more like they just did not know how to explain it I do not see they lied to you really.

When I asked why Dominator PC8500 is still in their offer, they said that is a different, new Dominator (DDR1066, 2.1V, CL5:rolleyes:)! As you stated previously, Corsair no longer produce DDR1066 memory. Anyway, I'm going to ask them for the part number, to make it more "clear". Wired
YB: They're only offering him credit. Boruteczko: I'd look at the price difference between the credit and the new memory, versus shipping the memory to the Netherlands. If the latter's cheaper, demand your memory back. They can't keep it from you logically.

Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted December 2, 2010 Corsair Employee Share Posted December 2, 2010 Boruteczko, I would encourage you to contact the reseller by phone not through email and talk to them and see if they can help you. We have stopped production of that part but as mentioned; that does not mean they do not still have inventory. And production has just recently stopped so they may not have all of the facts only they are having a hard time to get the part. They may not purchase directly from us which will make the information even more confusing that they may be getting from their distributor. So please as YB suggested do not assume and just talk to them would be the best way, they may not know all of these facts.
Boruteczko
I'm going to contact the reseller by phone and ask them for the part number, too. I wonder if their attitude differs from the shop (lets there be no misunderstanding, I underscore that I had some serious rma problems with them).
