How common is Coil/Cap Squeal - AX750W

Hi there,

I currently have a AX 750 on order and was wondering how common coil.cap Squeal on the unit?

I currently run a Seasonic M12D 750 Watt which does not produce and squeal. The reason I am upgrading is because of the Hybrid fan control. I run a water cooled rig which is silent apart from the M12D which is also fairly quiet. Last thing I want is cap squeal from the unit.

Seriously considering cancelling the order. Looking for some reassurance from Corsair and users.

Cheers

Andrew

i just end user here

but my friend have revision. a0w while me a1w ...

from what tested on my pc, both giving electronic hissing when using GPU power

i can just hear the hissing started when setting 3D on ATI catalyst 3D

what funny with my friend A0W i feel it totaly silent on idle

while on my A1W, it have little electronic hissing even on idle, not really an issue, as i barely hear it

Despite the hissing, the power supply is great!

well that the main important for PSU isnt it

indeed hissing can be quite bothering for some people

but i think the hiss is because ferror resonant topology used on AX series (i am not really sure but i remember jonnyguru mention about resonant being used on AX)

which is from what i read, the natural of those method to have higher noise than other

beside you have the best support/warranty, for me that another important factor when buying a product

for added info spec on my pc:

Gigabye GA-X58A-UD-7

Gigabyte Radeon 5850 (ATI reference board not modified)

Corsair Dorminator

Asus Xonar D2X

Pretty much the same specs 800D, UD7,920,5870, Xonar, 12GB .....

Pretty sure the M12D uses the same sort of technology and thats silent with regard to cap/coil noise. I'm only upgrading to get rid of the PSU fan noise while I work in the desktop. If there is any high pitched squeal then it would have to go back.

Not sure what to do now. :( Still have the option to cancel.

Andrew,

I've had my AX750 for over a month now. Been raving about it to everyone. However, it does have a very very high pitch noise when the computer is turned off. You would need to put your ear up to the PSU to hear it, but it's definitely there.

None of my exerience with Corsair, Seasonic, and Silverstone PSU have had this noise.

I also noticed if your computer is off and you click the on/off switch then the noise does not come back.

Hope the noise is not a performance issue.
