dotslasher
The cables are a bit short imo. I have a corsair 700D case and my sata power cables (4 in 1) cannot reach my 4 drives. I had to use the 4 in 1 but start from the 2nd connector and run another 2 in 1 sata power cable to reach the last hdd. the other cables are also well short for a high end product. I also own an HX1000 and it has considerably longer cables. I can reach all my equipment with the hx 1000 just fine with some room to spare. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 30, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 30, 2010 The HX1000 does have longer motherboard cables by about 10mm, but the SATA and molex cables should be longer by about 100mm on the AX850. Cable Lengths http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=83210 For the cables that need to reach the furthest places, make sure you use the sockets on the PSU which are closest to the back side of the case, so you get as much slack as possible. dotslasher
I already plugged in the connectors as close as possible to decrease the length that I need to overbridge. But the 1000hx is a much longer unit compared the rather small 850AX. Maybe that's why? I'm not sure.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 2, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 2, 2010 You might be right about the length of the actual PSU being a factor. For the time being I am not aware of any planned changes to the length of the PSU cables, so you may want to look into getting some extension cables. I'm also building a system with a 700D case and an AX 850 power supply. I wanted to run a 4-in-1 SATA power cable to the upper drive bay, but I have the same problem as the OP. I read in another thread that the P/S modular cables are proprietary. OK, then please give us extensions for these cables. :sigh!:
Wired
A standard power cable extender will work just fine.
x509
A standard power cable extender will work just fine. Sure, like this one from NewEgg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812123167 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200941 But wouldn't it be simpler and certainly neater to extend the cable at the P/S end? Corsair already recognizes that the 800D case is very large, and therefore provides an 8-pin extender. For customers of both a Corsair P/S and an 800D/700D why not make available (for sale?) SATA power supply cable extenders?
