rickk
I'm removing my h70 and need to remove bracket from underneath motherboard in order to replace it with something else. If i remember correctly, it had some kind of adhesive strips to hold it in place. Now i can't remove the damn thing and am wondering: a) if this is permanent adhesive? b) will i damage my motherboard if i remove it? c) is there a way to remove it? T_MacP
Hi, Just be careful. I have heard some here complain of the adhesive actually separating the conductive traces from the main board. So, be careful.
XAFAfterShock
I soak them with acetone that way they just turn to goo and are much easier to remove, I used them on the backplate for the h70 and noticed that it causes the corners to start bending alot when you start tightening the waterblock down and reduces the amount of mounting force applied because of the plastic flexing so I just did it the hard way and mounted it without the pads. Pain in the but to do with 1 person but the solid mount was worth the trouble.
rickk
Hi, Just be careful. I have heard some here complain of the adhesive actually separating the conductive traces from the main board. So, be careful. That's insane!...but I believe it. I had to pull it very slowly and it finally came off; very difficult. Corsair is now on my $#!t list.
Synthohol
the adhesive pads are not a requirement at all, you could have cut through with a razor blade. the backplate was designed to be used once.
Yellowbeard
That's insane!...but I believe it. I had to pull it very slowly and it finally came off; very difficult. Corsair is now on my list. This is absolutely NOT true. The adhesive is NOT strong enough to damage a motherboard. Anyone making this claim is absolutely INCORRECT. ::pirate::
