d678
My motherboard only has a 3pin cpu fan connector but the fan header on the h50 requires 4 please help Thanks
Lilsavalex
I'm curious about this too. I'm wonder if this is why my motherboard doesn't recognize it and run my h50
FlawlessSoul
The fan header or the pump?
djmorgan
4 pin headers normally supply power and allow the mobo to report on a sensor that monitors fan or other equipment RPM, a 3 pin header will only supply power and not report RPM. most modern mobo headers will allow the connection of 3 or 4 pins connectors. T_MacP
Hi, Are you quite sure the main boards CPU FAN connector does not have 4 pins for your H50 fan? Good luck.
FlawlessSoul
4 pin headers normally supply power and allow the mobo to report on a sensor that monitors fan or other equipment RPM, a 3 pin header will only supply power and not report RPM. most modern mobo headers will allow the connection of 3 or 4 pins connectors. David On a three pin header, two are used for powering the fan while the third is a RPM sensor. On a four pin header, two are powering the fan, one is the RPM sensor, and the last is PWM for controlling the fanspeed via Pulse-Width Modulation. The H50 and H70 pump plugs should both be 3 pin, and should be plugged into a direct 3 pin adapter off a molex, or onto a 3 pin motherboard header that is set to full. This will (iirc) lead to the pump running at about 1400 rpm. The fans can be plugged into 3 or 4 pin headers on the motherboard, or a fan controller.
