kaisersose1995
Hi all, I recently purchased a 4Gb matched pair (TWIN2X2048-8500C5D) set of RAM to complement the 2Gb matched pair (TWIN2X1024-8500C5D) already installed. After installing the initial pair, windows ran fine for around 8 hours. After a reboot windows failed to start. I downloaded memtest and tested each stick of ram in each of the 4 slots of my Asus P5QL PRO mobo. My old stuff tested fine but one of the new sticks failed. To keep the ram as a matched pair I RMA'd both sticks back. After installing the new sticks to my system I ran memtest first to test for any problems straight away. memtest ran for around 5 hours and reported no problems. I then booted into windows only to have a BSOD memory dump after 1 minute of seeing the desktop. I re-ran memtest and this time recieved many errors. I then went about testing all the sticks of ram seperatley again and found again that one of the sticks is giving errors regardless of which slot it is in. Is it just bad luck that I've now had 2 sets of RAM and both have had problems? I've never had issues with Corsair before and my orginal 2Gb set has been running solid at 1066Mhz for over a year now. Is anyone able to advise? Thanks for any help in advance Regards Richard
Wired
TWIN2X2048-8500C5D is NOT a 4 GB matched pair. It's a 2 GB matched pair. TWIN2X1024-8500C5D is NOT a 2 GB matched pair. It's a 1 GB matched pair.
kaisersose1995
Appologies, my mistake. I have 2Gb (TWIN2X2048-8500C5D) already installed, and adding a further 4Gb (TWIN2X4096-8500C5D) to my system. I have already RMA'd a set of TWIN2X4096-8500C5D after having boot issues and memtest reported errors, and now having similar issues with the replacements
