F120 BSOD on resume from STR

Here is my experience:

I replaced the Samsung SSD in a Thinkpad x200s with a F120. Before I did anything, I updated the firmware from 1.1 to 2.0. Using the latest bios and sata set for AHCI I did a fresh factory Win 7 install. I did all the patches from MSFT and Lenovo and I get a BSOD all the time when trying to resume from suspend. (drive kicks *** when running! way faster than old Samsung!)

Based on forum searches, I tried trim off by fsutil cmd line.

no help. I tried updating the Intel drivers from 8.9.2.1002 to 9.6.0.1014 with and without trim and it always BSODs on resume from suspend. I tried to set the SATA controller to "compatability" instead of AHCI, but Win 7 won't boot.

The option to only use suspend to disk (hibernate) is a bad choice (as is avoiding AHCI mode)

It always boots and runs fine, it just won't resume from suspend, which is a deal breaker in a laptop. I never had this problem with any spinny disks, nor do I have this with desktop PCs with SSDs from another vendor.

Lenovo x200s is 7465CTO with 4GB ram, Win 7 pro 64bit,

Bios 3.15 (6DET65WW) Core2 Duo L9400 1.86GHz. No Intel AMT enabled. Multiproc enabled, Virt tech and VT-d enabled, SATA controller is AHCI, Diask access DMA on, Speed step enabled and cpu power management auto, No bios or HDD passwords, no Antitheft AT-p, security chip inactive. Samsung MMCQE28G8MUP-0VA works perfectly for STR and resume. It is just slow!

I wonder if other Sandforce drives have this problem. Is Corsair's firmware different from ********'s?

Same settings here except I have all Intel virtualization turned off in the BIOS. The problem seems to affect all Sandforce based drives, include those of the competitor. Their forum is riddled with the same threads.

Rumor is that setting to IDE mode in BIOS is a workaround for the STR resume problem, but loosing trim makes it a real deal breaker for long term use unless you like repeatedly secure erasing and re-imaging the drive.

Once Windows is installed on AHCI I can not get it to startup as IDE.

Anyone know how to get an AHCI install to boot when the controller is reset to IDE/compatability mode?

BSOD is only with resume from suspend. If I rebooted in AHCI and let idle for an hour 1x/month with trim on, it could work without reimaging the drive.

I tried the regedit switch to IDE to turn PciIde service start to 0 and AHCI/Iastor services start to 1, but the PC wouldn't start: BSOD even in safe mode.

I used last known good config to start in AHCI and was back to BSOD on every resume from STR

Nothing learned.

No that is not what I suggested, I suggested you install the O.S. in IDE mode and then try and enable AHCI.

And if you want a refund you will need to talk to your reseller.

More then likely if you have the latest FIRMWARE Version 2.0 and still have that issue it is a BIOS and or driver issue. I would suggest you disable Suspend to Ram and Hybrid Suspend and just use suspend to disk instead.

I understand that was not exactly what you asked. I do not feel like putting in all the time to reimage for a substandard (Non AHCI) configuration. I have a lot of experience with SATA magnetic disks and never experienced this problem. I also have experience with Samsung, Toshiba and ******** SSDs and never experienced this problem. To quote the Corsair warranty:

"In general, this warranty means your Corsair hardware product is guaranteed to operate, as specified by its datasheet, and in the operating environment for which it was intended, for the life of the product or the extent of the warranty."

In the environment intended suspend to RAM is used.
