Zeroeden
Hi, i am having a bit of trouble with the Corsair AX850 PSU i recently upgraded from a HX620 after been very happy with that unit. After noticing that some sort of electrical noise was coming from the PSU i came here and read the sticky post about PSU noise and tried all the suggestion that were possible to me but even then the noise did not seem to go away so i started looking for what was wrong and finally ended up unmounting the unit and unplugging all cables then the noise went away so i started reconnecting 1 cable at a time and ended up noticing that as soon as the 20+4 ATX cable is connected from the PSU to the motherboard the noise comes back... The noise itself aint that loud but its even there with the PC turned off and gets progressively worse with the increasing load, gaming is not a problem since the speaker noise overshadows the electrical noise but things like watching youtube with the speakers set to low can get a bit annoying. Does anybody know of a fix or anything like that? Help would be very much appreciated... Thanks!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 22, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 22, 2010 If the suggestions in the Noisy PSU thread did not help, and you didn't have any problems when using the HX620 then lets get the AX850 replaced. The noise itself would not indicate anything functionally wrong with the PSU and would not increase the risk of the unit failing, but if the noise is bothersome then we can try replacing it for you. Zeroeden
Thanks for your fast response but before i request an RMA i would like to know wether you can replicate the issue on your end before i request the RMA or not if this is not possible then please say so and i will go right ahead and request an RMA. PS: Just in case i have another question... when requesting for an RMA should i ship the PSU + all accesories or just the PSU? Thanks for your help!
Wired
Only ship the PSU itself.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 22, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 22, 2010 This is definitely not something that I have noticed when using the AX850 in our lab. Since the HX620 seemed to work without any problems, I think that if the AX850 is loud enough to be bothersome then replacing the unit is the best option. You do not need to send the packaging or all the accessories with the PSU, we only need the unit itself.
Zeroeden
ok will do so, thanks for your help and fast response Edit: After giving it some thought and filling in an RMA i would like to know if there is any chance the 20+4 ATX cable is causing the problem if so may i ship it back to you guys and get it replaced as well? If so then may i edit my RMA request or should i request a new one?
