yati
Problem getting my ram to run at 1600mhz. Runs fine at 1066 and 1333. Will not post with or without CPU OC. Tried many of the settings on the forum with no luck. Help!
trackrat
There are no guarantees with overclocking. Your i7-920 CPU officially supports 1066 MHz. RAM but many times it's possible to run the RAM faster by manually setting the BIOS options properly. http://www.intel.com/products/processor/corei7/index.htm The info. at the link below may help? http://www.techreaction.net/2010/09/07/3-step-overclocking-guide-bloomfield-and-gulftown/
yati
I understand there are no garantees with OC. I've built 15 computers of which 4 are on 1366 sockets. So I have some exerience. Never had such a memory speed problem. Cannot understand why XMS or manual settings will not post at 1600mhz.

Because every CPU/Mobo/Vid card/RAM module is different and only guaranteed to run at the default specs. ;): While I'd expect your hardware to run the RAM @ 1600 MHz. all of your components must be willing and able to do so. Wired
Reset the BIOS, enable XMP.
yati
Trackrat, all my components have been willing and able for the last 20 years. If it wasn't; then it was broke and was returned. Wired, thank you! Problem fixed! I figured the reset during the f7d bios should do it, but it didn't. Did a hard CMOS/BIOS reset and everything loaded via XMP. trackrat
I meant your PC PARTS... ;): You can't tell how willing or able they are without testing as each one is different. :(:
