Will CMP24GX3M6A1600C9 Work on the Asus Sabertooth X58?

I am planning a system based on the Asus Sabertooth X58 motherboard, which says it supports up to 24GB (6 DDR3 slots). I plan on using either the i7-970 or i7-980X Gulftown CPU.

I would like to install all 24GB from day one. (My application is video rendering using Adobe Premiere CS5 and Adobe After Effects CS5.) The Corsair Memory Configurator currently lists the Sabertooth motherboard, but doesn't differentiate between the X58 and P55 versions. The resulting modules look more like they're meant for the P55 version. The CMP24GX3M6A1600C9 doesn't appear in the list. The CMP24GX3M6A1600C9 doesn't appear on the ASUS Gulftown memory list either (perhaps because it's so new).

In the Holiday 2010 issue of Maximum PC, one author built a system using the Sabertooth X58 and the Corsair CMP24GX3M6A1600C9 24GB Kit. I'm assuming this worked for him, but I wanted to check here first.

So, two questions:

  1. Do we think the CMP24GX3M6A1600C9 Kit will work in the Asus Sabertooth X58 motherboard?
  2. The CMP24GX3M6A1600C9 kit appears to be currently unavailable. Is there an estimated date of availability?

Thanks very much for your help.

Just to confirm my understanding, you're saying that that the CMP24GX3M6A1600C9 is compatible with the Asus Sabertooth X58 board. If I have misunderstood, please let me know.

As a follow-up question, once I get all the pieces assembled, is there anything I need to do to the configuration to make this particular combo work? Again, no overclocking. I'm just going to run with a Gulftown CPU and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Planning ahead, so I know what to expect when building the system...

Thanks.

Enable XMP in the BIOS, that's it. You may have to set up the BIOS manually, but all the settings are on the memory label itself (speed, timings, voltage).
