pgrepin
Hi I read in the threat Windows 7 Tips and Tweaks "My alignment calculation came to 256 so I'm good with that. But beware of cloning and disk imaging with SSDs. I have heard that cloning from a HDD or restoring an image can lead to mis-alignment" What is alignment & mis-alignment and how can i check this. Thanks Philippe
jtaivalmaki
The same thread, abiddermans post number 54 is where you find the answer. http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showpost.php?p=465297&postcount=54 Just to save you the trouble :): If SSD is not aligned, writing doubles and so the lifespan decreases. If I have understood it correctly.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 23, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 23, 2010 If you are using Windows 7 there is no need to align the drives Windows 7 will detect they are SSD and format them correctly.
pgrepin
Hi Yes, i'm using seven but the first installation was on a classic sata hardrive. I use acronis with the clone fonction for my new F60 drive. All is fine but are problems coming with the time ?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 23, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 23, 2010 I would suggest using Accronis to make an image of the drive (if you are using Windows) then use Parted magic to Wipe the drive under tools select Erase Disk and Secure Erase and then, install the drive on the system you will be using it as a second HDD and format it with the QUICK Option Only and 4k Allocation then test it with Atto again to be sure its running properly then delete the partition and image the drive back to its original image and you are done, that should restore the performance.
