alank
Hi. I'm buying the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD9 shortly and I want to ensure that the 12GB (3x4GB) Kit, PC3-16000, Latency 9-9-9-24 1.65V, PN CMP12GX3M3A1600C9, will be compatible with this Mobo? I see it has guaranteed compatibility on the recommended modules for this mobo. I was going to by 2x12 to give me 24gb's but I'm nervous about spending an additional $400. I want lots of memory for 3D/Video work, but I don't want to risk stability. I've had no end of stability problems with the GA-P35-DS6 Gigabyte mobo running 8Gbs of CM2X2048-8500CSD, to the point where - after lowering memory frequency to its lowest - I am now only able to run 4gbs. I see it's not listed as compatible, so that probably a big part of the problem...this despite a vendor assuring me - I however should have confirmed this first, so it's my bad. Now for this system, your site states guaranteed compatibility. The vendor however states they can't guarantee it...although a different salesman from the same company said it would work. 1. I assume it will run at 12gbs successfully? 2. I assume that the stated latency is what I'll set it up for...ie, 9-9-9-24? 3. Do you think I could run 2x12gbs successfully? Or would I risk instability, BSOD, hardward faults, needing to remove it so that it too sits on my desk not utilised? I appreciate any feedback before I commit to this memory. Thanks in advance. ;):
trackrat
Mixing of two RAM kits is not recommended nor guaranteed to work. If it works at all it would not likely work at the latencies/frequency specified for one RAM kit. If you need 24 GB. of RAM then choose from the GA-X58-UD9 list at the link below. http://www.corsair.com/configurator/product_results.aspx?id=1498849
Wired
As a clarification, there's two 24 GB kits listed as being compatible.
alank
Thanks...I'll just go with the 12gbs, as the 24gb set is not listed here in Australia...Computer Alliance is for example, is listed as a retailer, but they state that the product is not listed. 'Suppliers don't list it so they probably aren't bringing it into the country probably due to pricing as I would expect it to be up around the $1000 mark... Suggestion would be to get 2 x 12GB kits ?' Here is a vendor suggesting a setup that is not advised by you. Another salesperson in the same organisation wouldn't even guarantee the 12gbs module as working.

But, the difference is that when you buy a kit from us, 12GB or 24GB, it has been tested together and verified by us to work together. With 2 mixed kits, we cannot make that guarantee. Most times it will work but, we cannot recommend it based on "most" as we are responsible for giving you reliable information.
alank
Hi. I've contacted you recently for confirmation on the compatibility with the CMP12GX3M3A1600C9 memory modules and the Gigabyte S1366 GA-X58A-UD9 Motherboard. You said that there are no issues, however this is Gigabyte's response:'CMP12GX3M3A1600C9 is not validated from us on UD9 for current. Please contact Corsair tech support to see if they have validated on UD9 or not.' I responded saying you've confirmed it as having no issues, however they've added: 'Noted~! However since the MCH structure for X58 is inside the processor. You may like to contact Corsair for what processors they have validated with this module.' I'll be running the Intel S1366 Core i7 980X 3.33GHz Core CPU Extreme Edition What do you think about this and Gigabyte's response? Thank you
Wired
That memory is validated for the Core i7 X58 platform.
