jtaivalmaki
Got HP Probook 4720s. Corsair Force 80GB is not recognized in cold boot. This happens every cold boot. No issues with warm boot!?! Tried startup delays, newest HP firmware. With no help.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 17, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 17, 2010 Have you updated the Firmware on the Force SSD?
jtaivalmaki
Yup! Took the time to upgrade to 2.0. Didn't help either :(: Upgraded it as my system disk > update hung (no surprise there) > reboot > all fine > Atleast conserning the upgrade from 1.1 to 2.0. Got win7 32bit pro (just for info). The really weird thing is that every reboot the SSD is recognized. Why is the cold-boot not working? Tried two different time delays in bios, with no help. 1. Also tested Intel X25 160Gb in HP Probook (just the bios boot). Also recognized ok (cold&warm boot) 2. Also tested this F80 to my other laptop. FSC amilo pro v3205 (just the bios booting). Drive was recognized as it should. 3. I have another F80 waiting to be installed, but don't want to open the box. Atleast not until I get this issue fixed. 4. Should also get OCZ Agility2 120GB soon. Can't wait to see if it will have the same problem (sandforce also?)... BTW: After 2.0 upgrade, just had to try the sleep and deepsleep from W7 (probook). Worked every time. Shame that I didn't test those before the upgrade...
jtaivalmaki
Just for info  http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Hardware/SSD-not-recognized/m-p/377719/highlight/true One post is mine... guess whitch :p: I'm afraid that peeps at HP are too buzy or just don't care... So HPs forum is a big dead end!!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 18, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 18, 2010 I suspect that you will have the same issue with any SSD on that system if you updated to the latest firmware and still have that problem. But I would just use it in another system and only use our performance series SSD with that NB.
jtaivalmaki
But Intel SSD works! Or atleast get's recognized correctly in the bios. I'm guessing that intel motherboard vs intel SSD is bound to work. So you're not in a position to compete  HP sell's elitebooks equipped with intel SSDs, I think. So probably these probooks have similar motherboards and that's why Intel SSDs are easier choice for HP. However! The speed with this F80 SSD is just amazing (compared to the original 7200rpm HDD and many SSDs). Benchmarked F80 with ATTO in this probook and got max writes 237MB/s and max reads 252MB/s. Just hoped there would be a quick fix for this. Hell it works! Just not in the cold boot... So close, but so damn far :(: Have to say but I totally agree with this Ajaytanna's comment in his/hers thread: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showpost.php?p=477118&postcount=44 @Corsair+Sandforce FIX IT DAMN IT! Don't throw the ball to Intel or who ever... @RAM GUY: If P-series works, why should F-series be any different. And YES, I know all of these drives have different controlchips. It still doesn't mean some should work, some not. I'd really like to think that if I pay more money to get speed or what ever edge over the cheaper one, I'd also get a working product. You really should put more pressure in the SF direction for making an ultra-fast, ultra-unreliable product... and got it sold with your logo. Guess who's taking the blame in the eyes of everyday customer? So Intel it is... (also because I had to order Corsair product over the Intel products that they had in the selves already... unlucky me :(:)

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 19, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 19, 2010 I am sorry but there is not much we can do except for wait on the next firmware release for the SSD or wait for a BIOS update on your system. jtaivalmaki
4. Should also get ******** Agility2 120GB soon. Can't wait to see if it will have the same problem (sandforce also?)... Just an interesting update. 2. F80 in FSC amilo pro worked for a day and then became unusable. Clean install of Windows Vista. Every mouse click resulted in a looooong waiting period and a couple of times to BSOD. This was even straight after booting to Vista, so no sleeps on whatever. Got an image of the F80 Vista install and got it copied to 120GB Vertex2 from a competitors sandforce series... Works like a charm. Sleep wakeups, bios detection, Vista working 100%. So... maybe it ISN'T a motherboard BIOS problem?
