H50 pump speed problem

Hello,

I am having problem with the speed of the pump of my H50 CPU cooling system.

In fact, I noticed on many occasion the pump speed is fixed on 0 rpm, and on other occasions seems random and variable. On this latter case, in the BIOS I can see the system fan speed (where I connected the pump cable connector as per Corsair instructions) continuosly moving from 0 up to about 1100 rpm.

Obviuosly, the system is very unstable and most of the time is automatically shut down because of the high temperature I get on CPU (up to 90°C).

So, in order I can use my PC I have to switch on the PC a few time until from BIOS I can see the pump is actually working.

What is also very strange is that on some cases from Speedfan software I can see the pump speed to 0 rpm, but the temperaure of the CPU 4 cores is at about 20°C. In this case, of course the system is indeed stable.

Anyway, I red in other threads the pump speed should be fix on 1400rpm. So, I guess I have an issue in my case.:(:

Now, I would like to know your opinion on the matter, and whether the problem can be solved, or the pump is defenitely faulty.

Thanks,

enarmonico

See if the fan control settings in the BIOS are set to run the fan (or in your case, the pump) connected to that fan header at 100% or if it is trying to control the speed. It needs to be set to run at 100%.

Alternatively, if you have a 3pin adapter to 4 pin molex, you can simply connect the pump directly to your PSU.

Yes, I was thinking the same...

I'm going to try later.

The PC has been running for a couple of hours now with cores temp from 20°C to 25°C, but the pump speed reported by SpeedFan was between 0 and 64 rpm.

Isn't that pretty strange?

Bingo!!!

I tried to connect the pump directly to the PSU, and "et voilà", was perfectly working. Cores temperature stable at around 25°C (idle).

Anyway, it really seems I have an issue with the SYS FAN connection on my motherboard. In fact, on such port I connected the case fan, and also in that case the speed was a bit variable (around 450 rpm), but in any case I could not reach the fan rated speed (1000 rpm).

To definetely solve this matter I'll just connect also the case fan to the PSU ... by buying another adapter molex/3 pin.

Cheers,

I have the H70 and a Gigabyte motherboard. Corsair says the pump should run 100% so that rules out any header on the MB that's voltage controlled. The CPU and Sys Fan headers are voltage controlled, but looking at the MB specs I found a North Bridge fan header that wasn't controlled and used that for the Pump.
