tophat
I have the CMT6GX3M3A1866C9 dominator GT kit, and can run it fine at all auto settings at 1600, however, when i set XMP in the BIOS settings, it boot's, crashes, and states overclock failed, and reverts back to slower speed. The BIOS is the latest version, but i cannot and have not been able to get the ram to run at the suggested 1866 speed. This motherboard is a bit of an odd one, but can anyone offer suggestions or advice on what im doing wrong, id love to get the ram running at 1866. Synbios
When you use XMP profiles that may be overclocking your CPU and Northbridge as well as your RAM because it is adjusting your Bus speed. If it crashes at that speed then you simply cannot run at 1866. You may have to increase voltages and so forth, or it just won't be a stable overclock. trackrat
Even though the RAM has been tested and confirmed to run @ 1866 MHz. for your system to run stable overclocked to 1866 MHz. ALL of the components must be willing and able. You will most likely need to manually set the BIOS options to get your system to run the RAM overclocked stable. XMP profiles are not guaranteed and may not be the best choice for your particular CPU/mobo/RAM. XMPs are a best guess, that's all.
