Problem with corsair dominator gt and A70 air cooler in Rampage III mobo

Hi there:biggrin:

I am in the process of building a new computer and have run into some problems.

I cannot fit my corsair dominator gt (CMT6GX3M3A2000C8) into my Rampage III mobo as the A70's pull fan is in the way of the first two DIMM slots. I have read bits of information on the subject (after purchasing sadly:[pouts:) and am thinking of trying the following options and just wondered if these could work...

1,Seating the corsair A70 vertically

2,Removing a heatsink and keeping it off of 1 of the ram sticks (if thats possible?)

3,Using the A70 with just the pull fan (Again if this is possible)

4,Buying a slimmer fan for the A70 which is the 2nd to last resort...

5,Return the A70 and get one of the hydro series.

Or possibly anything else you could come up with. I feel pretty silly as I know I should have researched abit more before buying which I had done but I changed my choice of ram at the last minute.

Thanks for any help you may give:biggrin:

Thanks for the reply.

I will try number 1 and see how it goes.

As for number 2 I was unsure whether or not it was safe to completely remove the heatsink and end up with the ram frying.

Would this be the case if I overclocked my ram?

I knew the heatsinks could be removed but only to fit other ones to it.

Thanks again.

I assume you mean the top cooling fin of course ;): The memory can be safely run without the top fin at its rated voltage.
