skubany
Hi, Do these model number PSUs require minimum load to operate? In general, I remember PSUs required minimum load, 20W or such, to prevent them from shutting down. Thanks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 13, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 13, 2010 As long as they are plugged into a motherboard, the minimum load requirements would be met.
skubany
I actually did get a reply from Corsair rep stating that no minimum load is required. The reason I asked in the first place is that Enermax's newer PSUs explicitly state that no minimum load is required and explain that this feature will be desirable with the upcoming (already here?) energy saving states of motherboards and CPUs, where CPUs can set their operation mode to draw just 1W (C6 state). Even under energy saving modes of MBs and CPUs I think the PSU would still be loaded at least 20W, which is the minimum load that older Enermax PSUs require to remain on, but its nice to be sure that there will be no problems when MB & CPU go into energy saving states.
