Killswitch
Just upgraded/rebuilt my rig. I have 6GB TR3X6G1600C8D installed and 3GB TR3X3G1600C8D removed due to my large other brand CPU cooler covering 1st RAM slot. Here is my question: Has anybody tested or used this memory CMP12GX3M3A1600C9 12GB in 3x4GB set on an Asus Rampage III Formula at near 1600MHZ 8-8-8-24 timings? I am deciding whether to reconfigure my fan setup and lose 1 of 2 fans on cooler that will screw with the airflow configuration (bottom rear fan will have to intake for cooler). But, the 12GB must run at the similar settings I have with 9GB (1556 MHZ in BIOS at 8-8-8-24), CMP12GX3M3A1600C9 is not listed as supported RAM. I have also posted this over at the asus tech forums but was told to redirect to the great knowledgable Yellowbeard here. I first set the rig up with the rear fan reversed (intake) to blow air into the cpu cooler intake. Now with 2 cooler fans, all air in the case is moving right to left out the back. My cpu temps dropped 10C, MB down 5C, and IOH, ICH temps peak only 5C or so above idle at 52C (other setup the IOH and ICH topped at 68C+. Thanks for any help! Killswitch
Ok cool it is compatible with CPU! Unfortunately, it is not on the the Rampage III Formula Qualified Vendors List, I should have been more specific. I have attached the list from the motherboard website.R3F_QVL.pdf
Wired
QVLs are always out of date. Wouldn't worry about that.
Killswitch
Awesome, thanks for your help! Glad to see no posts about problems too, that's why I always buy Corsair memory :D
