kleroy
Just got a new F120 and installed on my Lenovo Z61t laptop. AHCI is enabled in the BIOS and the Intel drivers are all latest. Drive has 1.1 firmware, fresh Win7 ultimate 64 bit install. Problem is when I run ATTO, the highest reads and writes are 140mb http://themayberrymethod.com/atto/atto.jpg I know the controller is capable of more, I previously had a ******** SSD that ran 180's on this machine. Perhaps I'm missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 4, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 4, 2010 Can you post a screen shot of the other drive running at that performance? More then likely the performance has been limited by the BIOS that is common for notebooks, you can install the drive as a second drive on a desktop system and test it to be sure. kleroy
Did not save a screenshot. So that's it, all it will do is half of what is rated? Anyone looking for an F120 with a couple hours on it? Thanks
Yellowbeard
The performance is capped by your notebook, not the drive. You may want to see if there is a BIOS update or a way to change this in the BIOS. The max R/W scores are not the largest advantage of an SSD. It will still far outperform any HDD in real world usage. It will also extend battery life over a regular HDD also and is a good addition to your laptop. kleroy
Thanks for the help. I checked the BIOS and it's the latest version 2.27. The previous SSD seemed blazing compared to the way the system is handling this one. I wouldn't have even pursued the benchmark if it was as snappy as the old drive. I'm still confused as to why the other drive was able to run faster in the same machine, but hey, there's always ebay. Thanks
Synbios
So that's it, all it will do is half of what is rated? Your drive is clearly running at SATA I, a limitation of your laptop. ::pirate:: It would still outperform other HDD and will help your battery life as Yellowbeard has mentioned.
