abusli2
This motherboard is not listed in the compatibility tool and I was just weighing my options on which memory would be best/most compatible. Ideally I would prefer 2x4GB or 4x4GB but stability would obviously be the most important to me. I was wondering which of these would be a better bet in terms of compatible memory. CORSAIR DOMINATOR-GT 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145330 or CORSAIR DOMINATOR 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145284&Tpk=CMD8GX3M4A1333C7 I would obviously prefer the first one but I am just confused on what is compatible with my AMD chip. Any suggestions?
trackrat
Either kit should work just fine as they are both AMD Phenon II approved RAM kits. Two DIMMs are always likely to have less issues than four DIMMs but both tested, matched kits should work fine as long as your mobo is built to AMD specs and it probably is. Understand however that you probably won't be able to run the first kit @ 2000 MHz. as AMD AM3 socket CPUs officially only support RAM frequencies up to 1333 MHz. abusli2
Any recommendations for a 12GB kit or would that be absolute over-kill? The reason I ask is because I wasn't able to find any specific DIMMs in the 12 GB flavor for AMD on Newegg.

trackrat
I do not know if Corsair sells a 16 GB. AMD Phenom II RAM kit? Do you really have a need for 16 GB. of RAM?

trackrat
I have not heard of anyone running RAM on AMD CPUs @ 2000 MHz. As far as OC'ing an AM3 socket CPU Dolk's Guide has proven useful for many people. http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=596023
Handi360
Hi, I just registered and started searching. I don't mean to hijack this thread but me and the op seem to have similar needs. I have this same motherboard and cpu, and im in need of a lot of ram aswell. I currently have ******** Reaper DDR3 12800 2x2Gb and find myself running out of ram very fast while using lightroom and photoshop for editing images. It dose not have to be DDR3 1600 as said above phenom2 only supports 1333. I've read that 1333 is mainly for 2 sticks of ram and has to be dropped down to 1066 when using 4 sticks while overclocking. That's not ideal but i'm willing to sacrifice marginal speed for more ram. I currently do not overclock my cpu, i have however tested it and its stable at 4.0 ghz with only using the multiplier and voltages. So when it starts showing its age in a year or two I plan on overclocking it then, but do not want to have trouble with the ram when i start to overclock. I would like to put 4x4 (16Gb) of ram into my pc to remedy me running out of ram while using editing programs. The reason i would like to use 16Gb is because i recently put together a panoramic image in photoshop with only 6 pictures, and soon as it started compiling them the ram usage just shot up like a rocket, and i plan on using 20 or more images on other pano's. Some suggestions of 1333+ DDR3 4x4Gb that would complement my board would really help me out. This is the set i was looking at, but was informed that it was for intel only, not really sure what the difference may be but. Thank you very much. Handi360
So, with the lack of input here. I went over to a competitor of corsair that starts with an O, ends with a Z, and has a C somewhere in it, since i cant string those three letters together... Asked on their forums and was told that these will work for my situation. Hope this helps anyone with similar issues or concerns.
