emmettc Posted November 3, 2010 Share Posted November 3, 2010 I purchased 6GB of CMG6GX3M3A2000C7 less then a year ago, and now I find out that this memory isn't available anymore. I wanted to upgrade my system to 12GB. What Corsair memory can I use that will work with my original 3 sticks of CMG6GX3M3A2000C7? I realize that I may have to run the older memory at a slower speed, but that's fine as long as I don't have to replace the older sticks. I was looking at CMT6GX3M3A2000C8. Would this work? If not, is it possible to exchange these older sticks for 12GB (or even 24GB)? I'm willing to pay the price difference. Or is anybody interested in buying these sticks?? trackrat Posted November 3, 2010 Share Posted November 3, 2010 Unfortunately no one can tell you if mixing of two kits - even of the same part number - will function without issues. The majority of the time they will not. If you can sell the RAM you have and buy one tested, matched, approved 12 GB. kit, you would be far better off than taking a chance with mixing two kits.
