rowberme
Purchased VX550 in the UK on 8 Mar 2010. Over the past two weeks my PC has been randomly booting with what appears to be power failures. No BSOD no warnungs no error messages. Screen goes blank and PC starts a REBOOT. Only information is recorded in the Windows 7 Critical Event Logs. They say: "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly" I do not have another PSU to try, I wonder are other users having the same problem with this model. Sample Event Log attached Any help would be appreciated, this is driving me nuts!!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 3, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 3, 2010 Can you test the system with a spinning HDD? And do you have any events logged prior to this entry?
rowberme
To create a disk test the following was carried out; Using 64GB SSD as C: drive ran Windows 7 45GB backup from D:(Seagate 500GB) to E:(Seagate 500GB) and no problems or failures. Looking closlely at all the event logs there is nothing reported close to the fail time. Many thanks for the quick response. If this has to be RMA'd is it returned within the UK or to the USA
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 4, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 4, 2010 It's possible that it could be the PSU, but hard to say for sure. Are you able to test the PSU in a different system to see if the problems follow the PSU? If all else fails we can definitely try replacing the unit for you. It's likely that an RMA would need to be shipped to the US, but if you get an RMA number I would suggest contacting our customer service at 888-222-4346 and dial "0", (510) 657-8747 or email rmaservice@corsairmemory.com to get detailed RMA and shipping information.
