vd0515
Hi All, New to the boards here but wanted to see if the temps I'm getting on my new H70 are normal... Ambient Room Temp: 24-25C Reseated: 3 times using AS5 Radiator Fan Orientation: Tried as both intake and exhaust (both fans pointed same direction) Case: 700D Checked that screws are tight: Yes! Checked pump RPMs: Yes! Following temps are core temps measured by coretemp during prime 95 torture test at stock settings for i7 930 processor (no OC) Idle Temps: High 30's to Low 40's © Load Temps: Max out at 61-64 depending on intake or exhaust configuration Shouldn't I be getting more in the range of low 50's at load? To get any decent OC seems like I'll have to disable hyperthreading to keep the temps under control. Are my results normal? Thanks.
TickleOnTheTum
I have a 920 OC'ed to 4GHz and get: Ambient Room Temp: 20C Seated: Once, as supplied Radiator Fan Orientation: intake Case: Cooler Master Sniper Checked that screws are tight: Yes! Checked pump RPMs: Yes! Idle Temps: Lowest core: 32, highest core 41 Load Temps: Lowest core: 69, highest core

TickleOnTheTum
Yes, HT on, Speed Step and all that stuff off. Running Prime95 for the Load Temps.
djmorgan
A lot of these reviews are done on a bench with a 'spider' case, in other words NO case at all! these will always be cooler than a system in its case with lots of other heat generating stuff. Wired
That first review didn't use standard fans FYI.
vd0515
That first review didn't use standard fans FYI. Thanks for the responses all. I guess I'm headed back to my original question though of are my temps normal? Seems like I'm already at the same idle temps from 2nd poster (who is running at 4.0 ghz). There is also no way in heck I can get anywhere near those load temps with hyperthreading on. Any suggestions?
djmorgan
I think your temps are well within range, my ambient most days is 25c and idle on core 1 is about the same as yours - the CPU_fan rpm as well as humidity will have an influence here. I'm not OC'd, been there done that can't see the benefit as turbo more than supports what I need, my temp will not go above 60c using IntelBurn test (OCCT). in games such as Crysis, ARMA MOH I never see it above 54c. The point here is that anything up to 85c is very very safe, the CPU itself will protect from adverse heat by forcing a shutdown before damage, the OP who is running at 4Ghz has not stated what voltages he is using, some mobo's can achieve 4Ghz with very little votage increase, when I ran mine at 4.3Ghz the voltage was below 1.3v. I think too many people fixate on CPU temps when they are nowhere near the critical point and it seems 'browny points' get awarded to the 'mine is cooler than yours' group when all the factors are not known about the system, setup and surrounding environment. I'll get off my soap box now.... stop worrying about your temps they are fine, do something worthwhile with your computer and have fun David

Any suggestions? Your ambient is 24-25 and the 2nd poster is at 20c. There is a big difference in the temps you will see when compared to a 5c ambient reduction.
