JAG220
See my system specs for the RAM I have installed (two kits installed to make 8GB total). I am just wondering; According to the Corsair website, the SPD settings should be 7-7-7-20 at 1333MHZ. Is this correct? Is this at the JEDEC standard of 1.5V? I am just asking because the memory installed is automatically set at 9-9-9-24 (using CPU-Z to check all this, and BIOS). I know how to manually set it to 7-7-7-20, but do I also need to change the voltage to 1.65V (even if I keep it at 1333MHZ)? I know the RAM I am using is capable of 7-8-7-20 timings @ 1600MHZ and 1.65V (probably more too), but what I want to know is... the SPD settings of 7-7-7-20 @ 1333MHZ on your website, is it at 1.5V or something higher? Hope I've made myself clear here. Just a little confused from looking at your website because whenever I see SPD, I think JEDEC standard @ 1.5V, but then the 7-7-7-20 timings @ 1333MHZ should be automatic, which I am not getting. Actually CPU-Z says the the SPD as CL9 ram. Any help to clear this up is appreciated, thanks.
Wired
Note that 2 kits that haven't been tested together can't be guaranteed at their rated specs. You can try 1333 MHz @ 7-7-7-20 @ 1.5 or 1.65v, but there's no way to know what's the best setting. If you can I'd recommend returning them for ONE 8 GB kit that'll do what you want. JAG220
OK fine, so what exactly are the SPD specs stated in the Corair website? Let's assume I was using only the one kit. Is the 7-7-7-20 @ 1333MHZ meant to be at 1.5V as per JEDEC? Sorry for my original post, I guess I made it really confusing. Thanks for the reply, just need it cleared up a little bit more. trackrat
JEDEC are industry specs. The specs on the Corsair label are the speed rating for that particular tested KIT which may require increased voltage to run at the above OE CPU frequency. The info. in the SPD is the default timings for the individual RAM. DDR3 industry default voltage is 1.5 V. Increased RAM voltage is often required to run the RAM stable at a higher frequency. You can try 1.5 V and see if your PC is stable but more than likely to run higher RAM frequencies you will need to increase the RAM voltage to match the label on your RAM as that's how it was tested and speed graded. JAG220
See attached picture. This is the info on the official Corsair website. Is this the default SPD (7-7-7-20)???? My default SPD is 9-9-9-24 @ the usual 1333MHz as through CPU-Z. I did just do a memtest on the 7-7-7-20 timings @ 1333MHz and at the default 1.5V left it for 1.5hrs and there were no errors. So far everything looks fine. Just curious why the SPD as found out through CPU-Z was different to the what the website says.
trackrat
The default RAM specs are 9-9-9-24 @ 1.5 V @ 1333 MHz. The industry default DDR3 voltage is 1.5 V. This is what the SPD will show. The 7-7-7-20 @ 1600 MHz. @ 1.65 v settings are when speed rated. You typically will need to set these manually or possibly enable XMP? Some Intel mobos/CPUs do not like higher voltages than 1.5 V so if your's runs stable at 7-7-7-20 @ 1.5 V, enjoy.
rholdcroft99
jag220, ive been running this same memory setup, 2 kits of 4gb. i set mine up in bios at 7 8 7 20 and 1.65v at 1600 and have had zero issues for 4-5 months. i have also overclocked memory to around 1650ish and runs flawless. hope this helps
