CMP4GX3M2B1600C8 and Asus M4A89GTD PRO

hi,

First of all, sorry for my english...

I've recently assembled a new PC.

A week after the first boot, I've got a BSOD, and now 5 or 6 a day.

Sometimes I can't boot at all, and I need to wait.

The "MEMOK!" red light on my motherboard is siwtching on boot (like the memory kit is not compatible with it).

I've looked at the manual, and the CMP4GX3M2B1600C8 kit is not on the QVL, but the CMD4GX3M2A1600C8 kit is.

It seems to be more stable when I specify the frequency, the latency and the voltage manually (1600Mhz / 8-8-8-24 / 1.65 V), but finally it crash and reset the bios settings (after few days).

The SPD values are : 1333Mhz / 9-9-9-24 / 1.5V).

Question : Is my memory kit not compatible with my motherboard ?

I've tested my PC with memtest86+ (over 5 pass) and nothing shows up.

Thanks a lot for your answers.

You should have filled out your PC info. when you registered to help us help you.

That being said, yes the CMP4GX3M2B1600C8 RAM is fully compatible with all AMD Phenom II CPUs. I am running it on my AMD Phenom II PC right now as are other folks in this forum.

The RAM values that you show are correct for this RAM. The SPD is 9-9-9-24 @ 1.5 V and the 1600 MHz. frequency is 8-8-8-24 2T @ 1.65 V.

The CMD4GX3M2A1600C8 is NOT guaranteed compatible for AMD systems by Corsair. It is approved for Intel i5/i7 systems. The Asus QVL lists have a lot of mistakes. You have the correct RAM installed.

You can manually set the BIOS for 8-8-8-24 2T @ 1.65 V @ 1600 MHz. and try setting the CPU-NB to 1.20 V. The slight increase in CPU-NB voltage may help with the 1600 MHz. RAM overclock since the memory tests good. AMD only guarantees RAM to run up to 1333 MHz.

Thank you for your answer.

Unfortunately, the PC doesn't want to boot now. With 1 module it's ok but with 2 the memOK light blinks and I can't go further.

Like I said before, I've tested both module few days ago with memtest+, no problem have been reported.

The Asus Support ask me to test with an another kit (in the QVL of course).

I'm gonna test the kit on an another PC also, to be sure but I think the problem is on the motherboard (compatibility or something else)

Do anyone has the same configuration as me ?

M4A89GTD PRO + CMP4GX3M2B1600C8

I'd like to know if, nowaday, we HAVE to buy a memory kit in the QVL or die !

Thanks a lot :[pouts:

ps : I filled out my system specs :)

Hello :)

I got same motherboard and same memory only difference is that i use 8 GB instead of 4 GB.

Got same problem. I tried with alot of different settings of voltage/latency/ but so far nothing helps...

Sometimes it dosnt wanna turn on at all, sometimes it freeze in BIOS and sometimes in Windows...Also its totally unpredictable so sometimes it works for 3-4 h then crashes which makes it kinda hard to test.

I also use 1090T black edition Phenom II processor but that shouldn't be a problem.

If u found solution in meantime plz help :)

ty ;)

Hello,

So, I'm not alone  ? Do you think it's the same problem ?

Have you tested with 2 stick or just one ? Or have you the possibility to test an other kit ? I only know poor people so they have DDR2 or Minitel , I must buy an other kit to test myself :[pouts:

I got 8 GB of ram so thats 4 x 2 GB i doubt all 4 are broken. I tryed everything...tested memory ports all working, memory works also tested with memtest tryed alot of different settings in bios, Tried different combinations of DIMMs nothing helps...

Sometimes PC wont boot at all. Then i have to put only one DIMM in and reset bios settings to default and then i can put back all 4 DIMMs in and start changing settings in bios.

Also i noticed when PC wont start and red led is blinking it only works with 1 DIMM or 2 DIMMs in different port pairs. So black+blue works but if u put it in 2 blacks or 2 blue ports it wont.

Atm i got all 4 DIMMs in and settings are 1.7 v 8 8 8 8 24 and 1600 MHz. So far it works but it used to work for sometime with any settings but then after 10 min / 30 min or sometimes 2h it just reset sometimes with BSOD sometimes w/o. Also for some reason when i use that mem button on MB which auto adjust settings for ur memory it sets it to 800 MHz / 9 9 9 9 24 / 1.5 V...That cant be right.

And yes i think we got same problem.I asume that problem is in motherboard. Im going to test my memory on Another motherboard later today also ill test diffrent memory on my motherboard (2x4GB) and will let u know the results.

Peace

toparak, you're mixing kits that weren't tested together. That in of itself can cause issues. Stick with troubleshooting with just one kit.

Hey :)

Well i bought 2x2 GB kit x2. I was watching carefully not to mix them up. Im sure thats not the problem. Also i tryed with only 1 memory stick. It works but after some random time it either BSOD then restart or just restart :/

I tried 1.7 V / 8 8 8 8 24 / 1600 MHz and its working great so far...Its up for ~ 5 h ( it usually dies in 1min-2h ) let just hope it stay that way :)

One strange thing and if u look on those pics u will notice that too. I set 1.65 V on my Rams in bios but CPU-Z saying its still 1.5 V...

Heh ofc :D Ty for ur help :)

I tryed same ram config on asrock mother board model 890GX Extreme3 and its workin perfectly. Using same settings ( 1.65 V / 8 8 8 24 latency and 1600 MHz ) So i guess its problem with motherboard.

Ty guys for help

Ok i also tested another RAM on Asus motherboard and have same problems so its motherboard for sure.

I think problem is something with dual channel .

Every time i use 2 sticks in one channel blue or black it crashes/Bsod etc.

When i use same 2 stick in different channels blue+black it works fine...so OP u might try using them in different channels...it might work for you since u got only 2 stick...Im not that luck so i guess i have to get new MB :)

P.S.

Got any advice which MB should i buy? Something that support 101% all 4 stick of Corsair CMP4GX3M2B1600C8 and AMD Phenom II 1090 t ? If possible in same price rank :P ty :)

Hey,

not for me unfortunately, in single channel, the memok red light is desperately turned on and static ! it can't boot.

I'm surprised, I was thinking it would work with an other kit.

Is the memory you've used for the test is on the qvl ?

Just an FYI - there are NO guarantees let alone a 101% guarantee when it comes to using TWO memory kits instead of ONE tested, matched memory kit.

Slower timings and frequency than the ratings on the labels will likely be required regardless if you are able to make the two kits work together.

OFC there is...

I guarantee that CMP4GX3M2B1600C8 4 sticks will work on Asrock 890GX EXTREME4 with Phenom II 1090t on their normal frequency / latency / voltage ( that is 1600 MHz / 8 8 8 24 / 1.65 v). I can tell that because i tested it..simple as that.

I just wanted to know if u guys had same rig with some other motherboard thats better in some ways then this ascrock MB going to use.

Peace :)
