KinetiK
Ok, I'll keep this simple.. Came home from work yesterday evening to find my machine unbootable. On reboot noticed that what used to post as Corsair X32 now identifies itself as "YATAPDONG BAREFOOT-ROM ATA Device" In bios and windows, hot or cold plugged.. also it is posting its size as 128/134GB. Have tried erasing partitions and such trickery, about to try gparted and see if i get any more options there but its looking bleak from my limited experience with this kind of issue. Can anyone offer advice [even to tell me its FUBARRED and needs RMAing]
Synbios
Did you try secure erasing the drive with parted magic?
KinetiK
thats on my next try list, but am having great fail in creating a usb bootable drive of it [im out of cds/dvds]. I've just found the firmware flash for x32s and am working towards that, but the device ID is still kinda offputting. any advice for making usb drive with parted on?! unetbootin didnt work for me :/
Synbios
You can try this: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=85816 But you should definitely flash to the latest firmware first if you haven't already.
KinetiK
Ok, so any idea how to work out if i need the uppercase or lowercase version by serial number? I'm loading files onto my potential flash disk now Edit - can't flash the drive, flashtool won't recognise it. presumably as its posting as yatapong barefoot as opposed to corsair! rma time methinks :(
KinetiK
Is there any way to force a firmware flash>?
Wired
Not with Corsair tools. If there are 3rd party tools that could do it, it may (or may not) void the warranty. Not sure.
KinetiK
Cool, thanks for info. Looks like its beyond home repair though. Have submitted an RMA request for my poor beastie, my pc feels like utter derp on rotating drives.
