Tizakit
I figured before I planned and purchased, I would ask to see what you all suggest. Basically, is TRIM supported over a PCIE Controller card, and if so, which card is recommended? Thank you!
Synbios
If you have an i7, your motherboard might have a south bridge that supports TRIM. You probably don't have to buy a PCIe controller card but if you need to I'm sure somebody else can suggest one for you. Looking at SATA II (3.0 Gbps) controllers would be the first start. Tizakit
I apologize for being vague. Yes, I've got 6 ports on the motherboard. I was planning on using these for a six drive RAID, if I could get away with an controller card for the sata. (TRIM, and little to no reduction in speed.) Also, I was looking for a controller card around the $100 mark. If I were to want to spend 300-400 on one, I'd get a RAID controller instead, for the RAID, and use the motherboard for the SSD. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 27, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 27, 2010 The TRIM command would have to be passed by the controller driver and at this time any controller you would purchase does not pass the TRIM command that I am aware of, unless it can use the default Windows AHCI driver but it would be best to ask the controller manufacture
