The_Jelly
hi all! i just got my new rig up an going i jus need some advice on what to set the latency to... the rams latency 7-8-7-20 so i changed the dram settings manually in the bios to that latency and saw a hell of alot of other settings there... like command rate etc etc... i checked the spd using cpuz and it says the command rate is 2t but mine is running at 1t? thats what it defaulted to in the bios? must i change it to 2t and what other settings must i change, can anybody give me the correct value's to key into a rampage 3 bios? im not gona enable the xmp feature as i was told it disables turbo mode and if i overclock my cpu it will become unstable..... thank u in advance! trackrat
You only need to use a 2T command rate if the system will not run stable with a 1T command rate. If you had all memory slots populated you'd almost certainly need 2T. If your system is stable you're good to go. If not then you need to start changing BIOS settings. The_Jelly
well its running fine ran 3dmark vantage and a few games and no issues... here is the cpuz screenshot http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/ad35/The_Jelly/corsair%20memory/CPUZ.jpg there are so many other settings in bios must i set the rest to auto? trackrat
The BIOS will automatically set the other items unless you manually change them. To see if your system is really stable you should run IntelBurn, OCCT or Prime 95 for awhile. Those really stress the system. The default DDR3 RAM voltage is 1.5 V. If you have stability issues you can up that the RAM voltage to whatever the voltage is specified on the label on your RAM modules - typically 1.65 V. Don't raise it unless you need to as it just creates more system heat.
The_Jelly
like u said my ram is 1.65v so i can run it at 1.5v? at the same speed and same latency? and in the image above the 72clocks value? what is that? and what should it be? http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/ad35/The_Jelly/corsair%20memory/MemsetSpd.jpg
trackrat
You may be forced to use the 1.65 V for stability @ 1600 MHz. 1.5 V is the DDR3 default voltage for OE frequencies. I can't help you with all the esoteric RAM settings. I go with the ones that matter and leave the others at the default settings as I've never seen any improved system performance from changing them. If you don't know what to change you can create problems you didn't have when set to auto.
