pedro_nery
Just bought this new brand rig and I want to know if it will work. ASUS Formula IV + 8GB CMP4GX3M2A1600C8 + AMD Phenom II 1090T I've got some crashes while playing Bad Company 2, but I'm not sure if it's the memory. I've ran the memtest for a hour and I got no problems. I've ran prime95 test for 3 hours and also got no problems. My computer freezes for no reason while playing 3D games. I'm starting to think about my video card HD5970 Sapphire. But first I want to know if it might be memory problem related with this mobo + processor. Thanks. pedro_nery
Ahh, I forgot to say, I've configured the mobo to the timings which are on the memory specs. 8-8-8-24-41 and 1.65V.
trackrat
The CMP4GX3M2A1600C8 memory is qualified for Intel i5/i7 systems not AMD per se. It may or may not function without issues? Are you running the RAM at the AMD socket AM3 supported 1333 MHz.? You can try 9-9-9-30 2T @ 1.65 V to see if this eliminates the freezing. You could also try a small bump in CPU-NB voltage say to 1.2 V. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145297
pedro_nery
I'm running at 1600Mhz with timings 8-8-8-24 I'll try to do a little bump at the NB voltage and change the timings. I'll post back when I got home to test it
pedro_nery
reading the feedbacks at newegg website there's a user using it with the same processor as mine. But he is using 4GB instead of 8GB
trackrat
When all memory slots are in use, a PC typically requires lower RAM frequency and/or latencies with a command rate of 2T. Integrated memory controllers, (IMC) vary from CPU to CPU, as do mobos, RAM, etc. The CPU-NB voltage increase can sometimes help the memory controller run reliably at a higher frequency than the OE specs supported by the CPU maker. pedro_nery
Well, tryed to bump the CPU/NB to 1.20V, no success. Changed the timings to 9-9-9-30 @ 1.65V, no success. Swapped the HD5970 video card for a Geforce GTX 295 and got various crashes while playing battlefield bad company 2, but now the nvidia driver say that the driver has stopped working and the game exit to windows. This might have something to be with memory + processor? Would be very unlucky if both videos card are broken.
trackrat
Did you remove the HD5970 drivers and install the GTX 295 drivers when you changed the Vid cards?
pedro_nery
Yes, used driver sweeper in Safe Mode to remove the ATI drivers.
trackrat
Well you've mixed two 4 GB. RAM kits approved for use with Intel CPUs so it's possible that these two RAM kit are just not going to work together with your AMD CPU as they are not one tested and approved kit for the AMD? You can try 11-11-11-30 2T or remove the second RAM kit and see if you can get a stable PC.
pedro_nery
you mean, remove both kits?? Or just one of them? Coul you please post here a link to check what memory should I buy to x6 Phenom II ??? Thanks
trackrat
I meant if the two RAM kits won't run stable at 11-11-11-30 2T you could remove one of the kits and try just 4 GB. instead of 8 GB. It still may not work because the RAM isn't approved for the AMD CPU. The Corsair RAM at the link below is all tested and approved for the Phenom II series CPUs. http://www.corsair.com/products/phenomii/default.aspx
pedro_nery
Oh, now I see. That's bad, just bought it :( I'll try those timings and see if it works. If it won't I'll buy the aprooved kits. 11-11-11-30 at what voltage? 1.65? Thanks for the support.
trackrat
I would try 1.65 V.
