blee95
Hello, I just upgraded to a set of CMP6GX3M3A1600C8 and have the XMP profile active and I get this random studder every few minutes or so. This did not happen with my ******** Vipers that I replaced so I ran Memtest for several nights in a row and have had no errors so I got a set of TR3X6G1600C8D and they are doing the exact same thing. I have run both sets seperate and together and they do exactly the same random studdering but both sets either sepereate or together pass extensive Memtest runs. This is very strange since it only started after I upgraded from my last set of RAM. Any ideas what I may be missing.
trackrat
Does your PC studder when you run the RAM at 1066, 1333 and 1600 MHz. frequencies? Did you upgrade from 3 GB. to 6 GB. ? Is the studdering in one program or all programs?
blee95
Unit studders at 1066 as well. Have not run at 1333. Currently running at 1600 8-8-8-24. I was running 8GB set of 1600 ******** Viper and 'upgraded' to the Corsair 6GB set. Studders with any program so far. I us AutoCAD inventor alot and Adobe Suite and it will studder audio or just lock up for 1-2 secs then work just fine for a few more minutes before doing it again. BTW - I wanted to run 12GB and when I do they pass Memtest no problem but still do this random studdering.
trackrat
You might want to try opening Task Manager to see what services are running at the time these studders take place as this doesn't sound like a RAM issue even though you should not be mixing RAM as it's never guaranteed to work together unless sold as one test, matched kit. Wired
Reset the BIOS, then enable XMP mode.
blee95
Hello trackrat/Wired, Thanks for the input. To clarify: I have 2 matched sets of 6GB each. Both sets have the same problem when only one set is installed at a time. They also have the exact same problem if both are installed. I have watched the Task Manager and resources during the studders and one by one elimated programs to see if they quit or decrease in frequency to no avail. There is no clear resource issue either - ie, increase CPU, Hard drive access etc.. Wired : I will try what you suggested. Thanks Again.
blee95
Hello Wired, Tried the reset. Unit ran for an hour or so with no studders then the studder started again... Now the unit is studdering less, every 15 mins or so. Not sure what this means? Only running 6GB matched set. Reset bios and only adjusted XMP to profile1. Any other thoughts? Best. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 21, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 21, 2010 Try raising the QPI/VTT voltage slightly and see if it helps at all.
blee95
Thanks RAM GUY, I set the QPI/VTT to 1.335 which is the highest I can without going over the 1.35 intel max and the studder is almost gone. Very short now and not very often but still happens. Is there another setting I should look at as well? Best
blee95
OK, now I am getting BSOD in the middle of a studder sometimes. I need a RMA.
