Linkin
Hello all. My name is Adrian and I am a computer enthusiast. I build, maintain and repair computers as a hobby and for work. Before I bother you with my worries, I want to say that Corsair support is excellent, earlier this year I RMA'd a faulty stick of DDR2-800 XMS2 and recieved a replacement in less than two weeks, from Australia to America. outstanding! Now, I purchased this flash drive on sunday from PC Case Gear (an online only store - here is the item link: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=55&products_id=15458 - Mine looks different to the picture) and it was delivered today. I am concerned that it may be fake. I have it plugged into a USB3.0 port and am only getting write speeds of ~3MB/s I have pictures of the flash drive and packaging. The drive has engraved on the metal USB part itself the following: 04G 10336042 and on the rear: 009892 1300390308 pics: http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx299/adrian5606/101_0002-1.jpg?t=1287561521 http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx299/adrian5606/101_0003-2.jpg?t=1287561521 http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx299/adrian5606/101_0004-2.jpg?t=1287561521 http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx299/adrian5606/101_0011-3.jpg?t=1287561521 http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx299/adrian5606/101_0005-1.jpg?t=1287561521 http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx299/adrian5606/101_0008-1.jpg?t=1287561521 http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx299/adrian5606/101_0009-2.jpg?t=1287561521 http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx299/adrian5606/101_0010-2.jpg?t=1287561521 The reason I think it may be fake is because it looks different to the picture on the PCCG listing. the writing is thinner, and there is no number where the blue light is (the blue light does work) and the drive seemed to get stuck when copying files to it. It would say, for example, 2.39MB/s / 4 minutes remaining for about 30 seconds and not move, on the same file. Please help me verify if this is legit or a fake. thanks! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 21, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 21, 2010 Please try and format the drive with the Format utility from the SD-CARD Organization. Then run the HD-Bench software to test the performance.
