gavinc
i have 4 gb (2x2) of both CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 and CM3X2G1333C9 memory, i know the cm3x2g1333c9 is slower, but i figured they would be backwards compatible? I have a p45d3 platinum (MSI) board that supports 2gb/slot (8gb max) of ddr3 ram, all pieces of ram boot individually and both sets boot. but i cannot boot 1 of each or 2 sets (it doesn't even post) I tried manually setting the clock speed of the ram to match the slower ram, which boots with either ram, but again, not with both (or 1 of each) Are they just incompatible? or am i missing something? trackrat
Mixing of RAM is never guaranteed and usually does not work. You can try BIOS settings of 11-11-11-30 2T and see but you'll be very lucky if this mixed RAM runs without issues.
Wired
1600 will run at 1333, but there's no guarantee that 2 separate part numbers will work together.
