zebster
Hi, I have read somewhere on a competitors forum (I am not allowed to link to the source?) that you can only get ~75% performance out of the Sandforce based SSD's with a 785G-chipset from AMD. Does anyone know if that is true? Maybe it should not be a dealbreaker since the access time is the most important thing about SSD's performance and not actually the increased transfer rate. sahafiec
hi all, I'm also interested in how it looks like with AMD chipsets, using AMD 870 + SB850 chipset right now. Hope to find some info...
Synbios
It is somewhat true because Intel's controllers have been found to be much faster. I don't think it's a compatibility issue with SandForce controller specifically, but just as a general overall rule Intel controllers will have higher performance especially with SSDs. Your best bets are to simply check out Toms Hardware or other benchmarking sites if you really wanted to get the numbers behind it rather than taking mine and other people's word. edit, here's an example right here: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=90396
sahafiec
you're right but still it's not so easy to find just the right SSD reviewed with the right chipset.
