yet another noisy psu post...

Hi. first time poster. but unfortunately its not a very nice first post... I have a HX620W and I have recently begun experiencing the graphics card feedback high-pitch noise issue from my ATI 4890. Basically the first 60 seconds or so after power-on I get the high-pitch noise, then it cuts out. But then when i scroll a webpage the noise is instantly obvious, same with the 3D demos in the catalyst gui. I see there are many similar posts here with the same issue. I have had both the psu and gfx card for a long time and this problem has only now started to occur, however i have recently upgraded to a core i7 / x58 setup.

I do not at all like corsair's various "fixes" for this issue - "just turn off cpu power management in the bios". this is not a fix. many people including myself might actually think this is a very useful feature. my bios doesnt seem to have that option anyway. Similary - "the problem is probably the graphics card" .... erm, no.... not in this case anyway - swapped the card to a machine with an antec 380W earthwatts - no noise. Again, "All brands of PSU can experience this problem" - how come i have only ever heard of this occuring with corsair psu's then?

So I will have to RMA the psu but that then leaves me without a functioning computer for probably 2 weeks, so i will have to go out and buy a replacement anyway and I'm sorry but it wont be a corsair.

great memory though.

These are not fixes, they are ways to isolate the problem and to make sure that there is not a bad cap or voltage regulator on your video card or motherboard. We are happy to replace the PSU for you, just Request an RMA. If you have the option, I would test the PSU in a different system to make sure that the noise stays with the PSU.
