scottlol
Hi, for about two minutes after i turn my computer off my psu (corsair TX750) makes a buzzing noise. I don't notice the noise when the computer is on, so it isn't very loud. It's also 100% stable, i haven't had any problems with it, just a little concerned about the buzzing. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 18, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 18, 2010 Is the PSU plugged into a battery backup or surge protector? Or is it plugged directly into the wall?
scottlol
It's plugged into a surge protector.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 22, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 22, 2010 Any difference if you plug it directly into the wall? How loud is this buzzing? How far away from the system do you have to be in order to not hear it?
scottlol
Same thing if i plug it in directly to the wall. The buzzing isn't very loud, can hear it from a few feet away.
recon 7185
I have the same issue.... it is also not loud but its an electrical kind of high pitched whine. Is this normal?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 25, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 25, 2010 The PSU is not completely silent, however if the noise is loud enough to be bothersome, then we can definitely try a replacement. recon 7185
even when the computer is off?
hellhound604
with "off" I guess you only shut down the computer, and NOT used the Power switch on the PSU. In that case, a part of the PSU is still active, as it supplies a standby voltage for your motherboard. On some motherboards there are LED's indicating that the standby voltage is active. recon 7185
Yes that is what I mean. Even so should the PSU be making an audible noise under those conditions? I have never had a PSU do that
hellhound604
I remember I had CRT monitors, CRT Tv's, and a couple of PC PSU's doing just that. it is quite common that SMP's do that if it is in standby mode. It can be irritating, depending on the noise level
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 26, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 26, 2010 There may be a slight hum or buzz if you put your ear right up next to the PSU but it shouldn't be loud enough to hear under most circumstances. If the noise is loud, then lets get the unit replaced. It should not be making any significant buzzing noises when powered off and sitting in standby.
