McDuck
Hi. I am seeking a replacement for my infamous Bestec ATX-250-12E psu and really like what I have read about the CX430. Although new, the CX430 appears to meet all my needs but I'm not sure if it has all the connections I need. My system is an emachine p4 that is about 6 years old. I don't have any SATA devices but I do have 1 dvd drive, 1 cd drive, 1 hard drive, all with 4 pin connectors. I also have a floppy drive with a small 4 pin connector. It appears to have a 20 pin connector to the motherboard with a separate 4 pin connector to another part of the board. Also, my current psu has a dimension of 5.9 " wide, 3.25" high, and 5.5" deep. I apologize for my lack of technical expertise but any help provided would be greatly appreciated.
Yellowbeard
It can be difficult to find on some systems but you may be able to get the information from the manufacturer. You need to find out which electrical ATX standard your board complies with. If yours is older than 2.01 the PSU may not work with it. From the CX-430 product page: •Supports the latest ATX12V v2.3 standard and is backward compatible with ATX12V 2.2 and ATX12V 2.01 systems
McDuck
Thank-you very much Yellowbeard. It appears to be V2.2 so I should be ok that way. Am I correct to assume that the 20 pin connection and the square 4 pin connections on my motherboard are the 20+4 connectors? Also, on Corsair's website they give the dimensions as 5.9"W x 3.4"H x 5.5"L but on retailer websites they list the length as 6.3". Do you know which is correct as I do not have room for a psu that is 6.3" long
Yellowbeard
Our physical measurements should be correct. I have not seen any complaints that they aren't. The primary 24 pin connector is a 20+4 so it splits to accomodate 20 pin MOBOs. The secondary 12v EPS connector is a 4+4 for the same reason, to accomodate 4 pin and 8 pin MOBOs.
