chriskm
Hi Ram Guy I have a quick question regarding CMGTX4 dominator module. Is there a datasheet that can be downloaded for this module? Thank you.

Wired
Threads merged. Match the version number of your memory to the list above and you'll know who makes the IC. Won't get more details than that.
Evolver
Code Meaning (1..2) Module Type #G Total Part Number Density X# Memory Tech (DDR1 / DDR2 / DDR3) M# Module Quantity (Number of Modules) (1..2) Revision # Speed (MHz) C# CAS Latency CMT4GX3M2A2133C9 here's the breakdown: CMT(series) 4G(4gb) X3(ddr3) M2(2modules) A(ic???) 2133(speed class) 9(tCl) so whats the ic?
Wired
Without the version number there is no way to know. To be more clear, each part number can use various ICs throughout its life cycle. A part number can use any of the afforementioned ICs, hence why the version number is needed to determine which IC your specific kit uses.
ozzyau
I have a Corsair XMS3 4GB DDR3-1600 C9 kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) and the version is 2.3. I see from the table above this has Elpida chips; I remember there was an Elpida issue with DDR3 ICs last year, though did this spread to all Elpida chips or just the high end ones? Q: Is there any way to rule out for sure mine aren't affected? These were bought new just recently. Not sure what the go is, but i bought some more last week for another system and i got verion 3.x something which i see is Micron. Q: Does the version number correlate with age? as in, could these be older stock? Thanks.
Wired
The particular ICs that hat had issue were only in one series and fixed over a year ago IIRC. Version number correlation is above and has nothing to do with age. Build year / week is the first 4 numbers of the lot number.
ozzyau
You are awesome :D: Thanks for putting my mind at ease. Judging by the fact the only sequence of numbers on the DIMMs, apart from a warranty sticker with serial number, begins with 1033xxxx so it appears to be made within last three weeks. Very cool! Oj0
Hi guys, I'm thinking of buying "Corsair CMT4GX3M2A1866C9 Dominator GT DHX 2x2GB DDR3-1866 1.65v CL9" but wish to know which ICs they use. I know the revision number says everything but I don't have that information and the supplier is too stupid to know how to give it to me :p: Can anyone lead me in the right direction? trackrat
The supplier can read the version/Rev. number directly from the module if they really want to sell you the RAM.

Oj0
Not happening, if I walk into a store here I can slap 20% into the price immediately, and if something breaks I have to take it in and wait until the store gets it swapped out. With my etailer they'll even ship the new kit down before I send this one back, paying all postage fees incurred. I'm very happy with them :)
trackrat
As long as you are happy that's all that counts. Some folks are willing to pay for quality service and some folks expect it for free. It's highly unlikely you will ever get the lowest price and best service from the same source because of their true cost of operation.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 12, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 12, 2010 Some resellers do not actually have access to the modules so they can tell you that information but at this time this part will be either version 2.X or 7.X as these are the only IC's
