donpontillo
Hi people! This forum contains just what i need :) i'm glad i found you. Since two weeks i started to suffer blue screens and random resets on my pc. It's used to do it expecially when i'm in gaming sessions. So i thought it was the power supply. few test and it came out it's not then i tried unplugging the vga and neighter the problem was going away. Then i started to memtest the rams and it turns out that there was the problem. After of that i tried to use once banket (is it well spelled?) per time and i figured out one of the two seems to work better. The other stick is a lot less stable. But the worst configuration is using both the sticks of ram. Total mess! Now i'm running only with one stick and i want to buy another CORSAIR ram. (About the compatibility i've gotta write another 3d do i?) But before buying another one i'd like to send this ones in rma so i might save money (wich is not bad!) :) Since i'm writing from italy i don't know if i can ask for the rma, what do i have to pay and what do i have to do exchactly. I tried to compile the rma form on line but seems not working at all. Pls Pls help me! Bye SPECS: Mobo: asus m4a78t-e Cpu: phenom II x4 920 BE OS: win seven professional x64 PS: i figured out that my ram could be seen as TR3X2G1600C9DHX is that right? trackrat
Have you tested one RAM module at a time with Memtest 86+?
donpontillo
i used memtest in this way: memtest from cd bootable: stick 1 in socket A: passed (2out of2) stick 2 in socket A: passed (2out of2) stick 1 in socket B: passed (1out of2) stick 2 in socket B: passed (2out of2) stick 1 in socket C: passed (2out of2) stick 2 in socket C: passed (1out of2) both sticks in A and B: crashes after 2 sec both sticks in A and C: crashes after 2 sec memtest from windows: stick 1 in socket A: no errors after 1 hours stick 2 in socket A: between 2 and 3 hundreds of errors after 10 mins stick 1 in socket B: no errors after 1 hours stick 2 in socket B: between 2 and 3 hundreds of errors after 10 mins both sticks in A and B: random blue screens both sticks in A and C: random blue screens PS: i know socket C shouldn't be used but the ram weren't in OC (actually the mobo sets it to a much lower frequency that they can support)

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 12, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 12, 2010 First how many modules do you have and how did you purchase them and from whom did you purchase them from? And what were the BIOS settings you had set for both CPU and memory? With the MB and CPU you have listed the maximum memory frequency you can run is DDR1333. And you need to http://www.memtest.org to test the modules.
donpontillo
Hi.. the modules are two...it's a 2x2gb, a twin set i mean. Bios setting when i tested 'em was on default. That should be 1066 for the ram. but maybe ur right, it might be 1333. Voltage i guess 1,5. I used to have em at 1500Mhz and 1,78V. (with defoult timings) About the CPU i had it around 3,0Ghz, 1,30V, 266 the bclk and 13 the moltiplier if i don't go wrong. Of course i used memtest....i both tried the one from bootable cd...(iso burned with imgburn) and the one from the OS. just today i had two blue screens even with the stick that looked more stable. I'm now running at defoult values in bios. I don't remember where i purchased em, it was when i assembled the pc and in that period i made too many deals to remember it. But i'm searchin the paper sheets (i should have em) where i wrote who i did buy them from. Last thing.... i thought those two links weren't working but i received this email from corsair: "Dear Valued Corsair Customer, We are sorry to see you are experiencing problems with a Corsair product. Your RMA inquiry has been received and is being processed. We consider your request to be of the utmost importance and will respond as quickly as possible however, please allow up to 24hrs for processing. Please submit your request only once. If you have waited longer than 24hr for a reply, please contact our Customer Service at: 1-888-222-4346 or 1-510-657-8747 x0. Thank you for choosing Corsair." i guess the request arrived but i didn't have any confirm by the browser. Seemed to me it was not working maybe. At this point i don't know what to do. Maybe i'll just wait for news :) Tnx for the support

donpontillo
the rma worked just perfectly... new modules have been sent to me. I didn't try them yet but they are new. It's the same module number but not the version 1.2 (wich i sent to rma) but the 3.3 version. What does it change? Are them optimized or something? Wired
As per the link on the left, version # = IC used. Multiple ICs are used in any given part number's production at any given time, although you'll never see 2 different ICs on the same stick or kit.
