Arxiereas
Hi, I just purchased 2x2gb modules CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 to use them with my DFI lanparty DK-P45-T3RSB plus. According to mainboard manufacturer, the supported memory speed is 1066/1333/1600/1800(oc). After system's 1st boot I tried to manually set dram speed at 1600Mhz but there were no options available for this. I adjusted manually voltage (1.657) and timmings but still cannot run over 1333. If I o.c. the cpu (8x400) I can get memmory running at 1601Mhz. Is there something I'm doing wrong or these modules will run @1600 only with i5, i7 processor (*XMP)? If so, I will leave the auto setting at 1333. Should I set the voltage at 1.5 or 1.65V for this speed? Thanks in advance

trackrat
That memory is tested and approved to run on the i5/i7 CPUs at 1600 MHz. frequency. The voltage is 1.65V @ 9-9-9-24 2T @ 1333 MHz. Your CPU is only guaranteed to run at 1333 MHz. It may not run stable at higher frequencies. See my signature. There should be an option in your BIOS to set the RAM frequency/divider. The OM should list this. You may also need the latest mobo BIOS? http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=33910
Wired
Have you tried XMP?

I'm not quite sure I can run (or how to) XMP in p45+C2D system. Any idea?
trackrat
I can't answer your question if you can OC the memory in BIOS without OC'ing the FSB. Your mobo owners manual should answer this question but I expect a Lanparty mobo has this option. The OM may be available online if you've misplaced it? CPU-Z can be confusing. The "SPD" tab shows the current slot memory in the upper section and the possible JEDEC optional memory settings in the bottom section. It does NOT show you the current RAM voltage setting. It shows you what the JDEC settings would be for running your current RAM at different frequencies. In your case to run at 1600 MHz. you would need 9-9-9-24 2T latencies @ 1.65V. The default system voltage for DDR3 RAM is 1.5V so that is what your BIOS would normally set it to if you were running the OE spec frequency. I'm working on it, OM does not help at all. ;): CPU-Z can be confusing. It shows you what the JDEC settings would be for running your current RAM at different frequencies. That's right, it only shows available modes. So, in case I let it run at default speed (1333MHz) 1,50V should be the correct voltage. In your case to run at 1600 MHz. you would need 9-9-9-24 2T latencies @ 1.65V. By default my mainboard sets it to 1,612V, then I manually switch to 1,50 or 1,657V (no 1,65V option) Thank you for your help!
trackrat
Yes 1.5V would typically be the default voltage @ 1333 MHz. but you can leave it at the 1.612V your mobo sets it too.
