littlepowell
CM2X1024-6400 and CM2X2048-6400C5 I have two of the 1gb XMS 6400 dimms installed in the first two slots. Computer runs fine. I plug a 2gb XMS 6400C5 dimm into the 3rd slot and my comp crashes. Is it something to do with the 6400 and 6400C5 not being alike??! Memtest runs into multiple errors when running the 3 together. Any help or suggestions are much appreciated! Asus M2A-VM board with Windows 7 Ultimate 64.
Wired
Never recommended to mix kits, especially of different sizes.
littlepowell
So I should yank the 2 1gb dimms and buy 3 more CM2X2048-6400C5 dimms? I wanna upgrade to 8 gb. Those 4 2gb dimms with the same part number should work fine together!?
Wired
No, that is not guaranteed. Best bet is to buy ONE kit that does everything you need and find a different use for your other memory.
