24inchgamer
Hi Guys, Just picked up CMD12GX3M6A1600C8 12GB Dominator 8-8-8-24. I have installed it in a gigabyte X58A-UD3R rev. 2 Board along with a i7 930 which has a mild overclock. I just wondered if I need the Airflow fans that came with the memory. I would rather not use them in order to keep the noise level down but if they are absolutely needed then obviously I will. Thanks in advance
Wired
Yes, it's optional.
24inchgamer
Thanks, so my expensive dimms aren't going to get too hot without the airflow fans then?
Wired
Depends on the cooling setup in your rig. They won't blow up or anything without the fans.
24inchgamer
Is there any way of checking how hot they are?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 21, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 21, 2010 The modules do not have a built in temperature sensor you would need to use an external thermometer.
