danhasmail Posted October 10, 2010 Share Posted October 10, 2010 Currently i have an ASUS Rampage 3 Extreme with Intel i7 930 cpu and my RAM is CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C7 G. trackrat Posted October 10, 2010 Share Posted October 10, 2010 If you want 12 GB. that you know will function reliably, then you should buy a Single Corsair tested and approved 12 GB. kit for your specific platform. danhasmail Posted October 11, 2010 Author Share Posted October 11, 2010 When i built this system i don't recall seeing a 12GB kit. There probably was, but I didn't think of going that high at the time. Now, even though i don't see a need for more than 6GB, i have some extra money to sink into this system and was hoping that just doubling up the RAM using 2 identical sets of tested sticks would do the trick.
