MoneyMatt
I'm having an issue with my new SSD and I just want to confirm that it's not me. I have a (as the title says) CMFSSD-128D1 drive. My new system is about 10 days old. When I put it together it was working fine, I ran a stress test for about 3 hours and it worked perfectly. I can't remember leaving the PC running for any extended period of time because it wasn't set up with any programs and why having running doing nothing. When I was satisfied that it was working well, I took the drive with all my media out of my old PC and along with a WD Raptor drive, installed it into the new PC with the SSD as the Windows Drive. My issue now is that if I leave the PC running for a period of time, not sure how long it takes, the SSD disappears and I'm returned to a screen just after POST warning of no bootable disk. When I restart the PC the BOIS doesn't see the SSD and I have to disconnect the SATA cable to get it to reappear. I've changed cables and ports on the MOBO. I'm 99.9% sure that it's the drive but wanted to ask before initiating the RMA process. Thanks for the help.
The Professor
It's a known issue with Force series drives. A coming firmware update in the next few days (Hopefully. Other manufactures have begun to release the new SandForce firmware so let's hope that Corsair does the same) should solve the issue.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 13, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 13, 2010 He has an Extreme drive if that is the part number he posted and if so I would suggest checking with the MB Maker for the latest BETA BIOS and have you checked the firmware version on your drive with Crystal Disk Info? MoneyMatt
Thanks for the reply's but I solved my problem, I wouldn't say that I figured it out tho. I have a Corsair 1000W PSU CMPSU-1000HX, when I initially built the system I used a HDD power cable with only two connects. When I added all the drives, three in total, I switched to a cable with four connects. I don't know what or why but that was the problem. I was going to take the drive back to the store that I bought it from but first I wanted to remove some of the personal info that I had off of it. I have a HAF X case, I put the SSD into one of the front HDD bays rather than opening the case. The SSD drive ran fine off of this. I decided to put it back into the case, using the same cable and SATA port and it failed again. I switched the one - four connector cable with two - two connect cables and the drive has been running fine for two days now. I don't understand why it would fail with three drives in parallel for power. But its working now, I'm going to post the question in the PSU forums and see if anyone has any ideas. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 18, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 18, 2010 You will have to use only the cables that some with our PSU, if that 4 connector cable is from another PSU you are lucky it dd not fry the HDD or something else in your system. MoneyMatt
No, the cable that I used was included with the Corsair power supply.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 22, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 22, 2010 And you cannot uses cables from one model of our PSU's on another model they are not the same and may have the same results. But you can request a new set of cables from jackflash@corsairmemory.com just include the model of PSU and your name address and phone number. Wired
He's saying that the cable he used came with his power supply and not from another model.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 23, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 23, 2010 I was not clear on that and why I made that statement but either way; right cable not working or incorrect cable he can request a new set was why I made that statement.
