FredS
Hello, I just received my replacement memory (TWIN2x2048-8500C5D) that went faulty (I had 2 pairs giving 4GB in total, one pair stopped working). Thanks for an excellent service on this. However this new pair and the existing working pair do not work together, whereas the previous pair did. I have tested both pairs individually and everything is fine, but putting them all in at once causes POST 80h values of 22/25 (Reading SPD from memory DIMMs/Configuring memory) repeatedly, in other words the system does not boot up. I had been running two sets of TWIN2x2048-8500C5D i.e. 4GB for at least 18 months prior to the returned ones going faulty. This is what I have tried: Each module in each slot individually - works Pair A in all slots - works Pair B in all slots - works Pair A and 1 of Pair B - works (no longer dual channel though) Pair B and 1 of Pair A - works (no longer dual channel though) Pair A and Pair B - system does not boot. Pair B and Pair A - system does not boot. RMA memory: 5-5-5-15 2.10V ver1.5 Existing memory: 5-5-5-15 2.2V ver4.1 The BIOS memory settings are set to default. What can I do? I still only have 2GB of memory and am desperate to upgrade to 4GB. The RMA number was 7602270 Any help would be appreciated. This is driving me crazy. Synthohol
hello, sorry to bring bad news but there was no guarantee mixing ram would ever work. you can try 1 set and set the speed to ddr800 and add the second set and see if it works then? see my sig link for details. the versions are prolly different. FredS
Thanks Synthohol, I'll give it a try. I have also updated the BIOS to the latest, but still no luck. If I'd have known there would be such problems matching (even from same manufacturer, same model) then I'd have chucked them and bought 2 new 2GB ones... Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 7, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 7, 2010 Yes, mixing and matching kits is never guaranteed. I would recommend trying to contact our customer service and see if they can make an exception for you to have them replaced with a single 4Gb kit. FredS
Thanks RAM GUY. I have contacted customer services and hope something can be done. I just wish that the system configurator (Scan) didn't supply these like they did when the system was built.
