24inchgamer
Hi guys, just swapped out my tagan for a corsair hx850. After wiring it all up I hit my power button and get nothing but a tiny little spin from my case fan. I tried it with simply the 24pin and the other 4 pin connector and get the same. I wired up my tagan again with just the same pins and it works fine. Is my 850 doa? Thanks for your help *UPDATE* Turns out the PSU was DOA as all I got was a little spin from the fans, then nothing. Tried it in another system and its the same.. so that's going back. However, when I hooked up my old PSU back to the system I just took it out of, it appears I have a new problem. First of all I just get a little croak from the system speaker (no beep anymore) and there is no video! Ive tried 3 different graphics cards, clearing the cmos, swapping dimms and re-seating the cpu's heatsink. No joy. All my fans are going so there is obviously power getting through, just no video, or speaker beeps :S Is the board done for? Could the faulty HX850 have done this to it? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I dont know what to do next
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 4, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 4, 2010 It sounds like there might be a short somewhere, you may want to disconnect any devices that you do not require for getting into the BIOS and see if there is any change. I would also suggest that you reset the BIOS via the CLRTC jumper on the motherboard. Its difficult to say if the HX850 could have caused the problem but unless you saw/smelled smoke, I would not suspect that any hardware was damaged by the PSU. 24inchgamer
Thanks for the reply ram guy, I have tried with the board out of the case, cpu, with only a (working) psu, single memory dimm, processor and gfx card connected. Still no video, and still a buz/click from the speaker. Even tried a new speaker to check. I dont really know what else it could be, could a faulty cpu do this? or would i still get video without a cpu? Anything else I could try to bring the board back to life? I did notice that the fans all run at full speed (i.e. when it was working the fans on the gfx card would start full speed then slow right down, but now they are all going at max)

When COnnected back My CPU Fan Spins for a second and sytem was shutdown, i thought tat Faulty Powersupply Burned something, then i waited for one Minute and again i turned on My system, Yeah Thank God it's Back to Normal..... My Friend has returned to Shop for replace, Why tis is happening with CORSAIR...No Way... IF PSU is Faulty keep in mind All CPU and other fans spins @ MAX RPM DOnt knw why...... CORSAIR u should really Test and Ship the PSU..... Anyway atleast mine is working...........
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 5, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 5, 2010 IF possible I would suggest testing the PSU in a different system, this should isolate the problem right away, and if you have the same problems in a different system then the PSU should be replaced. Request an RMA
24inchgamer
Sorry guys there seems to be confusion here, this is what happened (is happening) 1 - have a solid working system 2 - buy new corsair psu, swap out with old one 3 - psu doesnt power board, at all, tiny little spin from the fan 4 - put old psu back in, all fans come on, but now no video 5 - tried corsair psu on another board, same problem, no power 6 - tried old psu on another board, absolutely fine So I have a dead corsair and what now seems to be a dead board, or could it be the cpu? Major co-incidence that the board stopped working after I plugged in a faulty psu?

Major co-incidence that the board stopped working after I plugged in a faulty psu? H! 24inch... Same Prblms happened me too, but the PSU was not mine tat was Faulty it was my Friends one... 1: Me and my Friend Both Buyed the Corsair 400WCX PSU ... 2: Mine was working fine 3: My Friend's one was not working, PSU fan was spinning when Hooked up tis PSU , all fans Spins @ Loud and result was same no display, we thought it was a compatibilty problem with his Machine... 4: Hooked tat Faulty PSU with My Mobo , same results All fans @ Loud No display 5: Finally Hooked up MY Working PSU back , i was shocked first , the CPU Fans Just spins off and system restarts itself , i thought it was Over, then i have waited for 1 minutes and again i tried , yeah it Came back... 6: One thing u remember when u Check with a Faulty PSU our Mobo or Bios get's Corrupted i think.. 7: 24inch did u tried Removing CMOS Cell for 1 minute or by Recovering Bios or if u have a Graphics Card remove it and chk with Onboard, or Try Checking with a Pair of ANother RAM.. 8: One MEsssage to Corsair- ur Products are Top Quality, Reliable and best in Performance and My Favourite too but with PSU u should Double test and Ship it, we Cant Risk or Mobo..... We Trust on Corsair , have a pair of RAM Corsair no problems with them .....
24inchgamer
Yeah tried resetting CMOS via both battery removal and jumpers. Tried new memory also, I guess the only thing to test now is the CPU, if that doesnt work then it can only be the board that is faulty
