mog
I get random restarts and I'm at a loss as to what's causing it. The problem started on my old Core2Duo setup. I blamed the Abit IP35 Pro motherboard and got a whole new i5 system (new mobo, cpu and ram). All was good for a month but the restarts have started up again. To me that rules out the motherboard as the problem or any of the new components. I have 2 HX520 power supplies and the restart happens on either one. I tried a different video card and it didn't help. It has restarted in safe mode so it's not a driver issue. I reinstalled Windows 7 and it restarted during the installation process. I've pulled all components except the necessities and it still randomly restarts. I've even tried unplugging it from the UPS and directly into the wall outlet to no avail. The only hold over components are the power supply, hard drive and water pump. Is it possible I just need a bigger power supply? Or is it possible the hard drive or water pump could cause this issue? Any insights into this problem or any other ideas to try would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 30, 2010 Corsair Employee Share Posted September 30, 2010 Its unlikely that both PSUs would have the same problems. There could be a short somewhere, or there is a component causing the shut downs. If you would like to have the PSUs replaced, then please Request an RMA. However its difficult to say for sure if the PSUs are at fault from what you describe.
