teeedubb
After building my system and poking around in the BIOS, I noticed in the PC Health Status screen that the +3.3v line is only outputting 3.008v (originally 2.992v). Also the EasyTune software that came with my motherboard is reporting the same. Everything seems to be working fine, but I'm wondering if this is normal and should I be concerned? Wired
Check in the BIOS. Software's notoriously wrong.
teeedubb
BIOS and EasyTune both report the same value.
Yellowbeard
Software's notoriously wrong. Check it with a meter to be sure. You absolutely cannot trust ANY software voltage reading. The BIOS is the 2nd best option and is better than OS based software but the only reliable test is a meter.
teeedubb
Ok, Ill test it with a multimeter. Any suggestions on the best way to proceed? From reading about the ATX spec on wikipedia I should be testing from the orange wires (+3.3v) to the black wires (ground) on the ATX connector, right? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 29, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 29, 2010 Ok, Ill test it with a multimeter. Any suggestions on the best way to proceed? From reading about the ATX spec on wikipedia I should be testing from the orange wires (+3.3v) to the black wires (ground) on the ATX connector, right? Thats correct. The ATX spec says that the rail should measure within 5% of its rating.
