Loosley
Hi, I recently purchased the Corsair XMS3 4GB dual channel ram kit, product # CMX4GX3M2A1600C9, for my Asus P7P55D-E motherboard. However, both of the RAM sticks have MemTest86+ errors. I tried each stick individually, and both sticks display errors. Here are the errors: Module 1 - The first module displayed 3 errors after a 4 hour run. Here is the info I copied down from MemTest. WallTime: 4:22:11, Pass: 11, Errors: 3, ECC Errs: 0 Tst 7 Pass 2 Failing Address 0001dcd7e6c - 476.8 MB Good 374e16f9 Bad 334e16f9 Err Bits 04000000 Count 1 Module 2 - The second module started displaying errors immediately after I started MemTest. 42200+ errors after about 1 minute. I didn't record any further details. WallTime: 0:01:19 Errors: 42240 To make sure the motherboard was not defective, I tried two other sticks of RAM from a different manufacturer, and MemTest did not display any errors after an overnight test with either of the sticks. I tested both the A1 and B1 RAM slots to make sure I did not have a defective slot, and both of them worked fine with the replacement RAM. This is the second set of Corsair RAM that I have purchased (the first was a set of DDR2 RAM), and the second time I have had MemTest errors. :(
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 30, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 30, 2010 Test 7 would suggest a possible issue with the memory controller. Did you run the other kit at 1600MHz? Either way we are more than happy to replace them.
Loosley
The system is not overclocked, and the memory timings were left in [Auto] in the BIOS. I don't recall what speed the memory was running at when it failed. Should I submit an RMA?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 5, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 5, 2010 We can go ahead and repalce the memory however if you continue to have issues you may want to look at the CPU.
