Plopitola
Abit Ip35-Pro reboots on shut down. It started as soon as i replaced my old power supply with the new HX850W I have tried everything I can think of and can not stop it from rebooting. I Put my old power supply back and it works perfectly. So I know that it is the HX850W that has not been compatible with my build. Need help before I decide to RMA. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 23, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 23, 2010 I would test the PSU in a different system to make sure you can duplicate the same results in a different system. If so, then Request an RMA. You may also want to make sure you have the latest BIOS available for the board and load setup defaults in the BIOS to see if there is any difference. valdamax
Are you by chance using a Cosmo S case?

Wired
Could be a similar issue as to what he's referring to: http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79848
valdamax
Yep, exactly, and coincidentally, I too am using an Abit IP35 Pro, though I doubt that's the culprit
Plopitola
Let me clarify my problem. I can boot up ok, its when I either want to shut down or use sleep. It will shut down or sleep perfectly but 5 seconds later it will boot again. The only way I can sleep or shut down is to turn off the switch on the power supply. Dose anyone else have this same problem?
valdamax
I didn't trying using sleep, but that was the issue I was having... what voltage on the yellow wire of ATX cable are you getting when unit is off?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 28, 2010 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 28, 2010 After a google search I was able to find a few links to people experiencing similar shut down and restart issues with the IP35 PRO board, and I seem to remember seeing a few people with that board mention this issue when the board was originally released. I would just make sure you have the latest BIOS for the board, load setup defaults in the BIOS, and then see if you can still duplicate the same issues. Also, if the issues are still there, you might want to try shutting down from safe mode to see if there is any change. If there is, then there could be some software or drivers effecting Windows shut down procedures.
Plopitola
Yes I have tried all of above and I have read similar links regarding the Ip35-Pro but didn't have any problems until I installed the HX850W. I haven't tested the yellow wire but I will. My next step will be to test it in a newer mother board (GIGABYTE GA-MA790XT-UD4P) as soon as I get a chance. Hopefully there are no known issues with this board. I will be upgrading soon and really would like to keep the PSU as the foundation to my new system so I want to make sure there is nothing wrong with this particular unit or model. Plopitola
Well happy to say that I tested HX850W with the GIGABYTE GA-MA790XT-UD4P and it worked flawlessly. I will be updating system within two months so I will put up with the inconvenience with the Abit ip35-Pro until then. I thank every one for there responses and am still open to any ideas that might resolve this issue with the Abit ip35-Pro.
MichaelD
The IP35Pro is well-known to have VRM issues. Low rail voltages and instability are two of the signs. I had two of these boards. I finally got rid of both of them. First one a year ago when it flat out died. The second just a few days ago; me seeing this thread is very timely. Updating to an i7-based system is cost prohibitive when i have a perfectly good LGA775 CPU and 8GB of DDR2 memory I could reuse. I went with an Asus PQ5 Pro Turbo. GREAT board. Plopitola
I might look into the Asus PQ5 Pro Turbo as a temporary upgrade. Just have to make sure it is compatible with the Intel E6850 cpu.
