GNZtH01
I bought the CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 4 gigabyte kit (2x2GB) from Newegg.com. I've been having issues with random BSODs and "memory can cannot be written" errors with Windows 7 64 bit since I built the computer about a month ago. I was was running at 800MHz. While troubleshooting I lowered the DRAM speed to 666MHz, and the system become completely stable. While trying to figure out the problem, I ran CPUID CPU-Z. On the Memory SPD tab, Slot#1 shows the memory part number as CMX4GX3M2A1600C9, with the JEDEC frequencies at 440MHz, 592MHz, 666MHz, and 800MHz. This looks correct to me. However, Slot#2 shows the part number as CM3X2G1333C9, whith JEDEC frequencies at 444MHz, 518MHz, 592Mhz, and 666MHz.Both modules look the same; both are labeled as CMX4GX3M2A1600C9. Is this just a SPD profile problem. I manually set the module that comes up as CM3X2G1333C9 to the same as the 800MHZ XMP profile of the CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 labeled one. Seems to be stable now. Do I just keep the 1333MHz one with manual timings, or is it it better to just RMA it? Anyone know the complete recommened memory timing table for the CMX4GX3M2A1600C9? GNZtH01
Do I have to send in both modules, or can I just send in the bad one? Sending in both modules would mean no computer for a week or more. I was going to just keep the 1333MHz one, as it was stable with manually entered XMP speed timings. Until today that is. I couldn't even use Windows for 5 minutes before blue screening. Wasn't even stable at 1333MHz. Thanks, GNZtH01
Wired
Send the whole kit so you know you'll get a matched kit back. After you get an RMA contact customerservice@corsair.com and ask about an advanced RMA.
